This award-winning film attempts to get beyond the partisan politics and the media’s ‘talking point’ approach to immigration issues by exploring one family’s complex and emotional journey involving deportation. Sin Paìs is the story of the Mejia’s – a mixed-immigration status family, some of whom face deportation. Watch the moments leading up to the impending separation and the impact on the children who remain in the United States. Please join us for a post-screening Q&A with Director Theo Rigby and Gilbert Mejia, who was one-year old in 1992, when he left Guatemala with his parents during a violent civil war.
