On December 7, Congregation Emanu-El will host Polyphony, a musical project uniting both Arab and Jewish Israeli musicians in a program of classical, contemporary, Israeli and Jewish music.

It's easy to feel hopeless when there is so much division and violence. Whenever people reach across the divide to build dialogue and connection, it is inspiring. This is where peace begins.

Polyphony does exactly this. They bring together young Jewish and Arab Israelis, who otherwise might grow up learning to hate each other. Instead, they study and perform music together, healing generational traumas and showing us it's possible to create peace, even in the most unlikely places.

Congregation Emanu-El is thrilled to present Polyphony on December 7 and hopes you will join us and share this with your congregation.

This is a project, headed by Nabeel Abboud-Ashkar, a gifted violinist and champion of a shared society in Israel. Polyphony is Nazareth-based and has pioneered a groundbreaking model for bridging communities in conflict and promoting personal excellence through classical music education and performance.

This will be their San Francisco debut. Other American appearances include Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center for the Arts and the Clinton Global Initiative.
